Backcountry Bicycling

ABOUT our Biking trails

Trails for every level of bicycle rider

The biking trails within Gnaw Bone Camp Nature Preserve vary in difficulty. For beginners there are gentle wide-track 1 to 2 mile rides along creeks with wildflowers, and historic cabins. There are also moderate wide-track trails that will have some uphill climbs before the trail takes the rider coasting along tree-lined ridges. For riders looking for a challenge, we have an amazing system of connecting wide- and single-track trails to give miles of riding with varying degrees of technical difficulty and elevation changes. We allow pedal assist e-bikes only (max speed 20 mph).

We describe our trails as “Backcountry” because we do not groom our trails. We try to clear fallen trees and we mark our trails with blue ribbon. Our “moderate” and “difficult” single track trails are intentionally narrow and not cleared of leaves, tree roots, or rocks. You will be riding in the wilderness, ride responsibly and read our Visitors Guide.
